"Jesus walked into that hospital room, and laid His hand on Rick Madison’s head and healed him."—Pat Robertson, The 700 Club.
"Richard, you’ve had everything go wrong that could go wrong and … you are a living miracle. There must be a God in heaven, and He is truly watching over you."—Dr. Kenneth Sharp, Attending Trauma Physician, Vanderbilt University Medical Center
You may be wondering: The Village Carpenter! Who is He? What is He? Why is He here? Let us start off by telling you that the name The Village Carpenter comes from about 35 years ago.
My wife and I were sitting on our back porch step, praying about what our Lord Jesus Christ would have us do with our young lives.
When we finished praying, I opened my eyes, saw my hands folded in front of me and at that instant; within my spirit, this calm peaceful voice said: "You have a pair of hands, use them to My Glory!"
We decided to go for it and to work for ourselves to serve The Lord Jesus!
While talking to our church pastor about it, the thought of having a business name came up. We tossed around several names, then our pastor suggested: "Jesus was a carpenter ... He lived in the village of Nazareth!"
We lived on a street that had the word village in it! We were starting a business in the carpentry industry! Thus came the name The Village Carpenter! So, in reality, the name "The Village Carpenter" started some 2,008 years ago!
Today, we continue to serve Our Lord Jesus Christ!
When we say: "We Found It!" We are referring to our salvation, through the blood of The Lord Jesus Christ!
When we say: "It was Free!!" We are referring to the free gift that God offers to all who will come to Him! The gift of salvation!
When we say: "We can help you find it too!!! We are referring to helping you find Jesus as your Savior through this website!
We will share many things to help you along your way. So enjoy your visit and check out all that we have to offer!
A CARPENTER STORY
An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family. He would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. They could get by.
The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and ask if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work.
He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career. When the carpenter finished his work and the builder came to inspect the house, the contractor handed the front-door key to the carpenter. "This is your house," he said, "my gift to you."
What a shock! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. Now he had to live in the home he had built none too well.
So it is with us. We build our lives in a distracted way, reacting rather than acting, willing to put up less than the best. At important points we do not give the job our best effort. Then with a shock we look at the situation we have created and find that we are now living in the house we have built. If we had realized that we would have done it differently.
Think of yourself as the carpenter. Think about your house. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Build wisely. It is the only life you will ever build. Even if you live it for only one day more, that day deserves to be lived graciously and with dignity.
The plaque on the wall says, "Life is a do-it-yourself project." Who could say it more clearly? Your life today is the result of your attitudes and choices in the past. Your life tomorrow will be the result of your attitudes and the choices you make today.
